Dorsal Night Splints

  • Dorsal Night Splints provide support to the ankle/foot assembly. The plantar fascia contracts when relaxed (sleeping) and the foot drops; night splints counteract this tendency and keep the foot at or close to the normal 90 degrees. If contraction takes place during the night, sudden stretching back to normal from the first steps away from the bed tear and re-damage the plantar facia, causing pain and retarding the healing process.
  • Dorsal Night Splints attach to the front curve of your foot/ankle. Usually a piece of plastic is formed to approximate this front curve and padding with straps provide padding and attachment. A Force Night Splint by Active Ankle
  • Drawback No. 1: No adjustment available for your exact condition. This is probably the greatest drawback.
  • Drawback No. 2: No safe transfers to bathroom. You cannot walk on on them and if you do it is a little dangerous because of plastic on the bottom; also, walking on them will fatigue the plastic, causing breakage.
  • Drawback No. 3: No Dorsiflexion straps for proper adjustment
  • Conclusion: Select a night splint that applies to the back of the foot-ankle; it must have adjustable dorsiflexion straps to accommodate YOUR condition and allow you to change the adjustment as you IMPROVE. Choose one with a transfer surface so you do not need to remove it when you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Click the Order Now Link Below for the LG Night Splint that Works!
